Thanks Sara. The battle belongs to the Lord! Cliché PLUS praise song- Ha!:) I finished off this blog and added in the thoughts about the thief lacking faith. Faith IS the battle here. It's a hard fought battle and one that we struggle with mightily. But in the end, we cling to the victory already won for us. When we give up the battle, we realize that Jesus already won it for us. How ironic? Our loss is His gain, right?

thought: even when we lose, it can still be used for good. i tend to think that sometimes we are allowed to lose so we can get it straight in our heads that its really not all about us. its when we are weak that he is strong...i guess for someone as thick-skulled as me, it takes me losing to see how weak i really am - a necessity at times. and the thief may win the battle, but he'll never win the war...a little cliche, just for you. :)

I fear I got so focused on the "gird your loins" part that I kind of glanced over two very important words that really didn't get translated in the Message either - BE SOBER. Since this one is probably hard to touch with a comment, let me start by saying that girding the loins for me is a process of strengthening our faith. Not based on anything we can do, but based on the hope we have through grace in Christ Jesus. So, we are made strong in the Lord and ready for service to Him. But service to Him is a calling to fight in a fierce battle. We can take solace in knowing that God goes before us every step of the way.

Thanks, Sara Lyn. Yeah, I forgot about the Farley movie. I wonder if I could have tied that in? I only remember Beverly Hills Ninja and Tommy Boy. TB is a classic! One thing about black sheep is that they stand out from the crowd. So, you're welcome to be an honorary member as well!

ok 1) i totally thought you were referring to the chris farley movie "black sheep" until you mentioned the song. :)
2) thanks for sharing...i look forward to reading more! i think black sheep are my favorite kind of christians...they've got a genuineness and some rough edges about them that you don't find in others.
